1)
Adjectives of quality or descriptive
adjectives:- This type of adjectives shows the kind of quality or things: as
i)
New York is a large city.
ii)
I like hot
coffee.
iii)
He is good
dancer.
iv)
He is an honest
man.
Adjectives formed from proper nouns (e.g.)
The Indian plains, French wines, A Chinese Pilgrim, etc
Adjectives of quality answer the question: of what kind?
Proper adjectives must be start with capital letter.
2)
Adjectives of quantity:- These adjectives are
used to indicate how much of things is meant. The chief of this class are-
much, little; no or none; some, any; enough or sufficient; all or whole, half.
i)
A half leave is better than none.
ii)
Riya has enough knowledge.
iii)
I ate some rice.
3)
Adjectives of Number:- Indicate how many
persons, place or things are meant, They also mention the order in which a
person or thing stands in relation to another.
i)
He borrowed a hundred rupees from me.
ii)
There are many mistakes in your answer.
iii)
A few men are rich.
The words ‘some’, ‘enough’, ‘all’, and ‘no’ or ‘none’ are
adjectives of number or Adjectives of quantity, according to the sense.
If the noun is material or abstract, the adjectives are
quantitative. But if the noun is common, the adjectives are number. e.g
Quantitative
Numbers
i)
He had enough bread. i) He had to aves enough.
ii)
He had all the bread. ii) He had
all the leaves of bread.
iii)
He had no bread. iii) He
had no leaves of bread.
4)
Demonstrative Adjectives:- show which person or
thing is meant; as, this, there, that, those.
Example:-
i)
This boy is stronger than Hari.
ii)
Those rascals must be punished.
iii)
Those are your pen.
Note:- When a person or thing is pointed out exactly, the
adjective is called a definitive demonstrative. When the adjective points out
in the certain sense, but not exactly,
it is called an indefinite demonstrative.
5)
Interrogative Adjectives:- When an interrogative
pronoun is followed by a noun in a question, it becomes an interrogative adjectives:
as
i)
What manner of man is he?
ii)
Which way shall we go?
6)
Distributive Adjectives:- refer to each one of a
number; these are found adjectives of this class:- each, every, either, neither.
i)
Each boy must take his turn.
ii)
Either pen will do.
